Paul McCartney did a great job remastering Band On The Run, releasing 24 bit 96 kHz, wide dynamic range digital files. The album was released under the “Paul McCartney Archive Collection,” suggesting that there would be other releases.
The next in the series is McCartney and McCartney II, Sir Paul’s two one-man-band albums from 1970 and 1980. Due to be released June 15th, both albums are being offered in multiple editions, both physical and digital. The special editions have bonus tracks and video.
And the high-resolution 24 bit, 96 kHz digital files are back, available in both “limited” (compressed dynamic range) and “unlimited” (wide dynamic range) versions. Once again, they are saying they will be offering FLAC files. It will be interesting to see if they deliver FLAC or WAVE files this time.
Now if he would just do Venus And Mars next.
