A little off topic for this blog, but…
I had pizza at Disneyland yesterday. Oh, yeah.
This is noteworthy because I have some serious food allergies, including wheat, and eating out – especially pizza – is really difficult. Disneyland has always been sensitive to special dietary needs, at least by providing ingredient lists. But even a few years ago, dining options for folks with Celiac disease (an autoimmune disorder that causes intolerance to wheat gluten) and wheat allergies were limited. McDonald’s french fries and fresh fruit were my primary Disneyland fare.
Back in June, my Celiac friend Shawnté told me about Disneyland’s new gluten-free dining guide, which includes a huge range of items, including gluten-free hamburger and hot dog buns, pancakes, waffles, rice pasta — and gluten-free pizza!
Yesterday, I was able to try the pizza at Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port in Tomorrowland. It wasn’t great, but it was pizza. At Disneyland. Which is pretty cool.
